Corner betting is one of the fastest-growing and most exciting niches in football wagering. Whether you’re a stats lover, an in-play enthusiast, or just want to try something beyond classic match-winner bets, corner markets offer unique value and great profit opportunities. Here’s everything you need to know about betting on corners in 2025 – from the basics, to proven strategies and live-tracking with OddsPortal.

Key Takeaways

• Corner betting markets are available on almost all major football matches.
• The most popular bets are total corners, Asian corners, and first/last team to win a corner.
• Research, statistics, and live tracking are the keys to finding value in corners.

What is Corner Betting?

Corner betting involves predicting different outcomes related to the number of corner kicks awarded in a football match. Instead of focusing on the final score or goals, you bet on corners – offering a new layer of excitement and angles to profit.

Most Popular Corner Betting Markets

1) Total Corners (Over/Under)

• Predict whether the total number of corners in the match will be over or under a set line (e.g., over 9.5 corners).
• Available pre-match and in-play.
• Great for matches where both teams attack or defend actively.

2) Asian Total Corners

• Similar to Asian handicap betting but applied to corners.
• You can bet on quarter or half numbers (e.g., over 10.5 or over 10.0/10.5).
• Stakes can be split if the total lands exactly on a “whole” number.

3) Corners by Team

• Bet on the total corners won by a specific team.
• You can also back which team will win more corners or get the first/last corner of the match.

4) First/Last Corner

• Predict which team will be awarded the first or last corner of the game.
• Higher odds, but less predictable – best for in-play bettors watching the match live.

5) Race to X Corners

• Wager on which team reaches a certain number of corners first (e.g., first to 5 corners).
• Exciting for games with dominant attacking sides.

Why Bet on Corners?

• Less random than goals: Corners are influenced by playing style, not just luck.
• Lower bookmaker margins: Odds on corners often have better value than main markets.
• More in-play opportunities: Fast-moving market with frequent changes and live stats.
• New angle for research: Gives sharp punters an edge if they track the right stats.

Strategies for Corner Betting

• Analyse teams’ styles: Attacking sides and teams with lots of wing play win more corners. Defensive teams facing pressure concede more.
• Check recent stats: Use past matches to gauge average corners per game for both teams.
• Consider match context: Must-win games, weather, and referee style (some give more corners than others) all matter.
• Live betting: Watch the match or use live data to spot momentum swings and react quickly.
• Use OddsPortal: Track live corner stats and trends for the matches you’re betting on.
